Common questions

Getting started and how SunSync works.

How do I get started? +
Create an account (Apple, Google, or email), set your skin type and everyday SPF, and allow location and notifications when asked. On the Today tab you'll see your local UV; tap Apply sunscreen to start a protection session.
Does SunSync replace sunscreen? +
No. SunSync helps you remember to apply, reapply on rhythm, and understand your exposure — but the sunscreen, shade, and clothing do the protecting. Always follow your product's directions.
Why isn't my UV index updating during the day? +
On the free plan, UV syncs once a day and shows the correct value for the current hour from that sync. SunSync Plus refreshes live as conditions change and when you travel a significant distance. You can upgrade anytime from the You tab.
How is the reapply timer calculated? +
It's based on your SPF, activity, skin type, water resistance, and the UV index — not a flat two hours. It follows FDA-informed limits, so wet/high-sweat activities shorten the window.

Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues.

I'm not getting notifications +
  1. Open iOS Settings → Notifications → SunSync and make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. In SunSync, check You → Notifications that reapply reminders / UV alerts are enabled.
  3. Check your Quiet hours — reminders scheduled during them are skipped.
UV shows "estimated" or won't load +
SunSync uses Apple Weather for UV. Make sure location access is allowed (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → SunSync → While Using) and that you have a connection. If Apple Weather is briefly unavailable, SunSync falls back to a clear-sky estimate.
My Apple Watch isn't syncing +
The Apple Watch app is part of SunSync Plus. Keep your iPhone nearby, open SunSync on the phone once to sync, and make sure both apps are updated. If it stays locked, confirm your Plus subscription is active under You → SunSync Plus.
Still stuck? +
Reinstalling the app clears most transient issues — your account and synced profile are restored when you sign back in. If that doesn't help, email SunSync@oscillara.dev.

Subscription help

SunSync Plus — manage, restore, or cancel.

Manage or cancel

SunSync Plus is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple Account. You can cancel anytime — you'll keep Plus until the end of the current period.

  • In the app: You → SunSync Plus → Manage.
  • Or in iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → SunSync.

To avoid renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Canceling a free trial stops it from converting to a paid plan.

Restore a purchase

New device or reinstall? Open the SunSync Plus screen and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you subscribed with.

Refunds

Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Account & data

Your data, your control.

Delete your account

You can permanently delete your account and your synced profile from within the app:

  • Open SunSync and go to the You tab.
  • Tap Delete account and confirm (you may be asked to re-authenticate).

This removes your sign-in account and your cloud profile (name, skin type, and preferences). Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app. An active App Store subscription is managed separately in your Apple Account.
